Happy February! We just finished the CSEG Doodlespiel in late January: thanks Brad, Tacita, Luc, Kurt, Fabio, Lona, Nathan, Caitlin and your student volunteers for the tremendous effort you put forth. From the venue/hotel bookings, to the draw creation, to the buses, to the Friday evening social and the seamless schedule, you kept the attendees entertained and safe. THANK YOU! Looking forward to Doodlespiel 2021!

CGDMS Presents – International Data - a Panel Discussion

The CGDMS has brought together a group of professionals with international data sets and how they managed it.

Bring your questions and curiosity for this intriguing panel. More and more Canadian companies are broadening their scope to include international properties. Here is a chance to broaden your skill set and maybe hear some humorous and helpful information.

Doug Uffen (Reflection Peak) will be moderating this panel which will include; Bart Iverson (Divestco), Ron Larson (RPS), Jason Noble (Headwaters Seismic) and Gary Roy (CGG).

CSEG Family Ski Spree

When: Friday, February 21st -Sunday, February 23rd, 2020
Where: Fairmont, BC
Registration opens: November 18th 2019

A weekend of fun for the whole family including ski and snowboard races, a kids obstacle course, crafts, games, a scavenger hunt and other activities for children of all ages. DOODLESPIEL 2020!

The 48th annual 2020 Doodlespiel has now come and gone and this year we had 59 teams with around 265 participants. The town of Banff, the Banff Curling Club, and the Best of Banff company once again created an amazing venue for the Doodlespiel that was enjoyed by all. For the second year in a row, the A event final had the Brack rink against the Hansen rink. In the end, the Hansen rink consisting of Sterling Hansen, Matt Ng, Dan Perez, Blayne Wagemakers, and Igor Senek took home the trophy. There were also 2 back-to-back champs this year with the Sommerville rink taking the B event and the Timko rink winning the D event.

A number of teams showed up with great costumes this year, but there can only be one winner. The Doodlespiel Spirit Award for best costume goes to: “Seismic Acquisition Crew”– Team Solvason. Well Done!!

This year we held a charity raffle once again with all proceeds going to the CSEG Foundation "In the Rings" Scholarship Fund. With everyone's amazing generosity we raised $1700 from the raffle. And once again, Larry Herd has generously matched all proceeds towards the fund, bringing us to a grand total of $3400! Thank you Larry!

Without the continued support of the industry, this great event would not be able to continue. Sponsorship and overwhelming participation of our industry continue to make this one of the largest curling bonspiels in Western Canada. As the outgoing Chairman I am confident that next year's Doodlespiel committee will no doubt deliver another excellent event.
