The CSEG Foundation is happy to announce that the Geophysical Industry Field Trip (GIFT) will once again be held this year! Spanning 3.5 days, this tremendous program aims to bring together 40 students from across Canada to the heart of industry in Calgary from May 29th to June 1st. Over the course of the trip, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable insight of geophysical industry workflows. Previous activities have included live seismic acquisition demos, inversion workshops with industry software, a geologic focused hike, well-tie and seismic interpretation workshops, as well as opportunities to network with some of Calgary’s best in industry! GIFT is strongly recommended to any students hoping to advance their experience and knowledge in the field of geophysics; this is an opportunity you will not want to miss.

For industry folk, the GIFT planning committee is still seeking both Sponsors and Venue Hosts for this rewarding event. Great efforts will be made to ensure proper gratitude is given to GIFT’s supporters through extensive marketing material both during and following the trip. The committee is always looking for new ideas for topics and venues the students may experience as is the goal of growing GIFT’s nationwide reputation as a superior and upstanding event. Perhaps one of the largest advantages is the opportunity to meet some of Canada’s brightest up-and-coming geoscience students at GIFT’s evening social/dinner or other networking events. Attendees of the this trip will be some of the top candidates entering the industry’s workforce.
