We were lucky enough to travel to New Orleans this past October to compete at the SEG Challenge Bowl after winning the CSEG Challenge Bowl at GeoConvention. We placed fourth in the competition and we are happy to have made it that far, as the competition was strong.

Challenge Bowl Participants

After the Challenge Bowl we took in the SEG convention and city of New Orleans. We attended talks in subjects of interest and learnt a lot about new developments in geophysics. We were also able to network with other students and professionals from across the world. The atmosphere in New Orleans was great and we enjoyed our time there immensely (we even went on a paddlewheel riverboat cruise down the Mississippi)!

We would like to thank the CSEG Foundation for providing us with the amazing opportunity to represent Canada in an international competition and attend the SEG conference in New Orleans. It was an incredible trip that we enjoyed every moment of.

The 2016 CSEG Foundation Challenge Bowl will be taking place March 9th (details at http://www.geoconvention.com/students/challenge_bowl.html). Spread the word!
