The Emerging Professionals Program, an initiative put forth by the CSEG, in conjunction with the Edgemont Community Association, Energy Minute, SPE and CWLS, held an Earth Day Community Clean-up in the Calgary neighborhood of Edgemont this past April 22nd, 2017. The event was a great success! We had close to 40 volunteers come together in an effort to give back to the community and our environment through the cleanup of litter in the Edgemont Ravine with over 30 bags of garbage collected. Volunteers were comprised of members from a variety of societies including the CSEG, SPE, CWLS and the Edgemont Community Association, as well as students from Tom Baines and Sir Winston Churchill School. Calgary MLA, Mr. Panda took time out of his day and also attended the event. Food and drinks were graciously sponsored by various companies including Co-op – Harvest Hills Location, Real Canadian Superstore – Country Hills Location, Community Natural Foods, Urban Bean Coffee Company, David’s Tea, Fiasco Gelato and Vine Arts Wine & Spirits. On behalf of the EPP Committee we would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our amazing sponsors and the Edgemont Community Association for providing insurance for the event, as well as to all the volunteers who attended and demonstrated their passion for the environment and the importance of caring for the communities we live in. ‘Social Energy that Matters’.
