ON THE MOVE...

Dr. Rachel Newrick, President at Racian Ventures Ltd, has returned to Calgary after five years of UK based exploration. In 2008, she travelled to the UK on an expat assignment with Nexen and spent two years working the North Sea before joining Cairn Energy, Edinburgh, for the excitement of frontier exploration. She worked for a season as a Senior Geophysicist drilling offshore West Greenland and as Technical Team Leader evaluating and farming out the Pitu block in North Baffin Bay. In 2012, she took on the challenge of Mediterranean exploration focusing on the Eastern Mediterranean and NW Africa. Earlier this year Rachel resigned her position as Cairn’s Exploration Manager (Mediterranean and North Africa) to return to Calgary for skiing, dirt biking, friends, and the geoscience community.

Rachel has recently co-founded a company, Racian Ventures Ltd., and is consulting on short term geophysical projects. She is pleased to currently be working in collaboration with Doug Uffen and Doug Pruden at Geo-Reservoir Solutions. She is very happy to be home in Calgary and can be contacted through Geo-Reservoir Solutions, via LinkedIn or directly at rachel@racian.ca.

In January, Gary Paukert returned to Calgary in one piece after a couple of years living and working for C&C Energia in Bogota, Colombia. After taking a travel sabbatical over the first part of this year, he has resurfaced at Petrominerales, prospecting in the central Llanos basin and heavy oil belt. Gary is hoping to hang on downtown long enough for his career to overlap the career of his daughter, Katherine Paukert, who will be joining the Calgary exporation community in a few years. He can be reached at GPaukert@Petrominerales.com.
