There is a new column in the RECORDER this month. It is called “Through the Eyes of a Student” by Roger Smith. Roger is a first year geophysics student at the University of Calgary. I really enjoyed the column and urge you to check it out. It has been awhile since some of us went to university and things have changed. I know Roger would be interested in your feedback, and I know I am. So please feel free to email either of us with comments.

By the time you read this, the Geoconvention will be over for another year. On behalf of the sponsorship committee, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Alyssa Middleton, Sponsorship and Outreach Coordinator. She has been a real pleasure to work with and has great ideas. And I don’t want to forget Aileen Lozie, our new convention manager. Great job, Aileen. And last but not least, Doug Colvin, thanks partner. I am looking forward to next year, because I get to work with one of my favourite people, Satinder Chopra is the CSEG General Chair for 2012. Doug Colvin (Statcom Ltd.) and I will also be working on Sponsorship again and will be joined by Wendell Pardasie (Calmena Energy) and Peter Cooper (Sunshine Oil Sands). If you have any ideas for sponsorship, please contact us. We would really like your feedback and are always open to new ideas. If you have any complaints, pass those on too, BUT not without a suggestion on how to make It better.
