FREE! FREE! FREE! FREE! Yes it is true. The next Geoconvention, recovery 2011 will be held May 9th to May 13th. If you register online for a pass to the exhibit floor before May 8th it is FREE. So please circulate this information to the technologists, technicians, landmen, engineers and anyone else you work with. This is a chance for them to visit the exhibit floor and see what the geoscience community is all about. In 2005 I was the Exhibit Chair and I brought my parent’s to the Exhibit Floor, they really enjoyed seeing what was going on. This year we have Earth Science for Society as well. Those exhibits are designed for university and college students, youth groups and the general public. So invite you family, neighbours. Let them learn about our industry. And remember it is FREE!

Tako Koning is a long-time member of the CSEG (member for about 30 years) and has lived and worked for the past 19 years in Lagos, Nigeria and Luanda, Angola. He worked for the past 8 years in Luanda for Tullow Oil as Advisor- Social Projects & Public Relations. He wishes to announce that he has recently accepted a position in Luanda with the American – British oil and gas consulting firm of Gaffney, Cline & Associates as Manager-Angola Business Development. At the same time, he is also Residential Representative on a volunteer basis for Yme Foundation (www.yme.no) which is a Norwegian humanitarian organization involved with drilling for clean drinking water in the southern part of the Angola province of Cabinda near the Demoncratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Jinling joined us in November 2010 and has a Masters degree in both geophysics and computer science.
