I am writing this column at the end of August on one of the rare sunny days we have had. I hope everyone had a good summer, in spite of the weather.

Over the last few months, a number of people have complimented me on my writing talents. They particularly enjoy the announcements that appear in this column. I cannot accept the compliments as I usually only write the introduction; announcements are written by the individuals themselves. So I appreciate the thought, but cannot take credit where it is not due.
