This industry certainly is cyclical and circular. In 1870, John Davison Rockefeller formed the Standard Oil Company, and in 1911, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the company formed a monopoly and ordered Standard Oil to split into separate companies forming Exxon, Mobil, Chevron...et al. On September 30, 1999, the merger between Exxon (the largest oil company in the world) and Mobil (the second largest oil company in the world) was approved in Europe. It is ironic that 35-38% of Standard Oil is back together again. A book worth reading is "Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller, Sr." by Ron Chernow. John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Geography and a Master of Science Degree in Geomorphology and Water Resource Assessment, both with the University of Calgary. He has worked in the Canadian Arctic and Sub Arctic designing, setting up and maintaining remote environmental monitoring stations. Most recently he has been involved with GPS and GIS mapping. On September 14th, 1999, at the Kelman Seismic Processing employees golf tournament in Shawnee Slopes, Senior Researcher Patrick Butler had a hole in one. Pat used a three iron and a range ball with three cuts in it to ace the 135 yard fifth hole. The ball is being mounted and may be viewed at Kelman Technologies. Congratulations Patrick!!!
