Happy February Everyone! Thanks to everyone who made submissions to my first ever Grapevine column. If you keep it up, it will make doing this job much easier. For those who aren't aware, Gina Ritchie (former columnist extraordinaire) has 'retired' from the RECORDER to pursue other ventures. If you need to reach her, you still can at IHS.
CSEG Outreach Committee
The CSEG Outreach committee is delighted to announce that Talisman Energy is the 2008 sponsor of student memberships. We are also very grateful to Petro-Canada for their 2007 sponsorship of 111 students.
This great initiative not only increases our membership amongst a very important younger cohort but also encourages students across the country to join our society, thereby helping us to become a more national organization.
Applications forms can be found on the website under the students link or by e-mailing students@cseg.ca.

CSEG/CSPG/CWLS Silent Auction
As you probably know already, the CSEG, CSPG and CWLS will be having their joint convention May 12th to May 15th, 2008 at the Stampede Roundup Centre in Calgary. As part of our convention and commitment to our community, we will be holding our fifth annual charity event and silent auction on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 from 4 pm until 6 pm. To date, with your help, we have raised over $52,000 with our silent and live auctions.
This year the proceeds will once again be going to Light Up the World (www.lutw.org), which was founded in Calgary. LUTW is a Canadian humanitarian initiative whose chief goal is to assist the poor in the developing world to obtain affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly White Light Emitting Diode (WLED) based home lighting powered by renewable energy sources.
We invite you and your company to be a part of this worthy cause by generously contributing products or services for the silent auction. If you can help out with a donation or if you would like to work on the committee for the silent auction please contact Laurie Ross at (403) 298-5614. Your support is greatly appreciated.
