The results of a joint study of Alberta basement structure, conducted by Lyatsky Geoscience and the EUB/Alberta Geological Survey, have now been released and are available on a CD. The study area covers central and southern Alberta, south of 56°N (~Twp 80). This study aims in particular to assist with the detection of basement faults that could affect the sedimentary cover. A suite of derivative regional gravity and magnetic maps is included. For further details, contact the AGS in Edmonton or Lyatsky Geoscience in Calgary. Paradigm
Paradigm announced new customer support initiatives and expansion plans for its global customer support operation. As Paradigm geoscience and visualization software applications are increasingly being adapted enterprise-wide, Paradigm is responding by extending its focus in the critical area of customer support to meet global on-time support assistance. “In addition to the expansion of our customer support operations, Paradigm is adding Web-based quality assurance and customer support tools, as well as new user training programs, to facilitate an effective technology transfer, stated Paradigm’s newly appointed Director of Technical Support Services, Chris Wills. “These programs will benefit Paradigm application users by providing them with the skills that will enable them to identify quality prospect generation in complex geological areas, while minimizing environmental impact.”
Young Geophysicists Forum
The second YGF (Young Geophysicist Forum) was held on November 1st, 2005 at Ceili’s Restaurant and Pub. The event was attend by 55 “senior “ geophysicists and 115 students and junior geophysicists. We would like to thank the sponsors Encana Corporation, Burlington Resources, Talisman Energy and Ceili’s. The main question during and after the event was “When is the next YGF”. There will be an article on the YGF in a future issue of the RECORDER where we will answer this question and others. So please keep your eyes pealed!
