APEGGA's New Advertising Campaign Communicates Licensure Requirements

The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) has launched a new advertising campaign to raise awareness of the value and legal requirements of professional licensure in Alberta.

The print ad focuses on the words professional engineer, geologist and geophysicist, and their respective abbreviations, highlights the value of professional licensure and identifies APEGGA as the professional association responsible for regulating the practice of these professions in Alberta.

Audiences that are targeted for the campaign primarily include individuals who are not licensed, but are qualified to be licensed by APEGGA, and individuals holding themselves out as practicing, but who are not qualified to do so. Employers and users of professional services, business and opinion leaders, and the public are also being targeted.

Three ads have been created. They focus on the information technology community, the geoscience community, and a general ad geared towards students, existing practitioners and employers. The ads appear in select Alberta-based business and trade publications, in Calgary's downtown business core through a network of elevator billboards and via online advertising. To view the ads, please visit the APEGGA web site at www.apegga.org/whatsnew/peggs.

APEGGA is responsible for regulating the practice of engineering, geology and geophysics in the province of Alberta. APEGGA's authority for this is a statute of the province of Alberta, The Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions (EGGP) Act. Under the EGGP Act, registration with APEGGA is required to practice engineering, geology, and geophysics in the province of Alberta. With nearly 34,000 members, APEGGA is the largest professional association in Alberta. This year APEGGA is proudly celebrating 80 years of service to Albertans.
