Egypt's 1994 Bid Round Acreage Data Available on Tape or CD-ROM
Lynx Information Systems U.K. and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) jointly announce the availability of digital seismic data packages to help interested companies assess Egypt's 1994 Bid Round acreage. The data are on tape or CD-ROM and ready for workstation loading. Areas available for 1994 include Western and Eastern Desert, Sinai, Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea. U.K.'s Onshore Seismic Data Library contract awarded to Lynx U.K.
Lynx Information Systems U.K. has been awarded the contract to operate the U.K. onshore seismic data library, by the Department of Trade and Industry (DT!) and the U.K. Onshore Operators Group (UKOOG). The library has been set up to manage the orderly release of U.K. onshore seismic data to interested parties from both academic institutions and exploration companies from around the world. Nepal
The Department of Mines and Geology has announced plans to promote for licensing 10 blocks of 5,000 sq. km each, located in the Terai Plains of southern Nepal and adjacent Siwalik Foothills to the north. A formal licensing round is scheduled to open on I February 1995 and close on 30 May 1995. Data rooms will open in Kathmandu on 1 November 1994.
Preparatory to that opening, a Nepalese delegation will travel to Calgary (12-16 Sept.), Houston (19-23 Sept.), London (26-30 Sept.) and Singapore (3-7 Oct.) for a series of private meetings with interested companies.

For purposes of the upcoming round, the government of Nepal has revised its production sharing terms. No mandatory government participation and no bonuses are required and there is no ring fencing. Seismic option bids will be accepted. There have been no foreign right holders in Nepal since 1990 when Shell relinquished the 4,969 sq. km Biratnagar block.
LCT and COGC Cooperate on East China Sea Surveys
LCT, Inc. of Houston recently announced the addition of two ZLS fully-digital gravity systems to its existing fleet of upgraded marine gravity meters, and one was immediately deployed as part of a multi-survey venture with China Offshore Geophysical Corporation (COGe). Terms of this major cooperative effort allow LCT to provide marine gravity and magnetic equipment and training to COGC aboard the survey vessel Bin Hai 512. To date, the group has completed two acquisition surveys in the East China Sea, with additional surveys scheduled through the remainder of the year.
A&B Geoscience to Use Focus Seismic Processing Software
A&B Geoscience, headquartered in the U.K. will now use Focus seismic processing software from CogniSeis to provide full interactive processing and interpretation services to the exploration industry. Focus is a workstation-based seismic processing system that combines batch and interactive processing in a 2D and 3D windows-based seismic processing system.
SPE and CIM to Hold Conference
The Canadian SPE and the Petroleum Society of CIM will be holding their 4th Annual One-Day Conference on Horizontal Wells, November 22, 1994 at the Calgary Convention Centre.
