NEW PORTABLE CESIUM MAGNETOMETER

EG&G Geometries has introduced a new portable cesium magnetometer, a modified version of the MK22 ferrous object and ordnance locators built for the U.S. Navy. The civilian designated G-822L is a very sensitive, continuous-reading total field magnetometer useful for a wide variety of geologic mapping and search applications.

The civilian modification includes an RS-232 port to interface the magnetometer to an external computer. Magnetic readings are provided 10 times per second for automatic data storage. Software is available from EG&G Geometries for logging the data on the computer, and for plotting magnetic contour maps of the survey area. The combination provides a very efficient means to create a magnetic map of an area.
