It has been an interesting few months for the geophysical community! In the face of this volatile period, we as the Executive committee strive to continue our mandate of creating value for our membership, while staying sustainable and viable. This meant making a few big decisions recently, including changing the format of the Recorder, but we are committed to the longevity and high quality of our society.
That said, your membership is more than just technical resources and educational opportunities! Our social events such as the recently successful Ski Spree and Doodlespiel are fun opportunities to network, both in maintaining relationships as well as forging new ones. Notably, as a new value-add to your membership, we have partnered with the Bow Valley Club. They are offering exclusive CSEG member rates for Social and Sport Memberships, as well as a plethora of other benefits and discounts. Please see the CSEG website or contact the BVC for more information.
Additionally, look for updates on the website and in the e-newsletters regarding the upcoming events such as Symposium, Geoconvention, and EPP events, to name a few.
As I am writing this before the election results, I want to extend a warm welcome the newly elected Executive Committee members. I look forward to working with you all as part of the Board for the society’s and our members’ best interests.
On behalf of all of us as the Executive Committee, I offer a heartfelt Thank You to all the committee chairs and the hundreds of volunteers whose efforts have propelled the society forward through these tumultuous times. Without your dedication, the CSEG would not be the continued success it is. Please keep an eye out for an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation event, which will be generously sponsored by both the CSEG and the CSEG Foundation. For those of you who would like to get involved, check out the CSEG website for our schedule of events and volunteer opportunities. Your talents and skills are valued! I would also like to extend a special thanks to our long-time and new sponsors, donors, and advertisers.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please get in touch with Member Services - we are here to support you, the members, to our fullest ability.
